Though am also happy to report that a rainstorm that happened shortly after the above image was taken, brought the levels of water back to a more acceptible level. I shall return in April to the same spot and see what has happened since.

Salton Sea, my favourite place to be.

La Quinta Cove; Old town La Quinta is surrounded by mountains on three sides;

Near Yucca Valley; got caught in a rain storm (one of many that week) trying to look at an old abandoned town; the rain makes the desert landscape turn to mud; sat in car peering out wishing it would stop momentarily and also unsure how I would make it back to town. Southern California roads are notorious for not being built for rain so mudslides and sudden floodings are quite common.
